Welcome to our Schools!
SAI provides elementary and high school education to the La Victoire community. Quality of education is a big issue in Haiti and we're dedicated to delivering a best-in-class (pun intended!) experience for kids. Karina worked for several years as a teacher in Palatine School District 15 in Illinois. Since moving to Haiti full-time she's been bringing her experience to SAI's schools in setting up curriculum and class schedules.
How we deliver education
We have three core fundamentals when it comes to creating a sustainable, lasting impact for kids in our community.
Teachers
Hiring the best quality teachers we can is the highest priority for SAI's schools. In order to get the best, we pay above-market wages for our teachers so they're motivated to come to SAI and do their best for kids.
Curriculum
Karina's experience as a teacher in Illinois is being leveraged to develop a school curriculum that can have a long-lasting, positive impact for children.
Hands-on Experience
Our students help us with other projects around SAI, such as maintaining our farms. They learn valuable lifetime skills that teach them how to sustain their own families when they grow up.
How Can I Support SAI's Schools?
There are two key expenses that we incur from running our schools.
Teachers
The quality of teachers that we hire for our schools is extremely important. To help attract talent we pay above-market rates for what teachers normally make in the public school system.
Support our teachers with a monthly donation to SAI. Consistent, monthly donations are important so we can pay teachers on-time without any interruption.
New High School
One of our key projects in 2020 is building a new high school. We've been renting space for a couple of years now but have out-grown the space.
We're in the process of purchasing land and will then have construction costs to build the school. Based on our latest estimates, it will cost between $7,500 to $10,000 to complete this project.
