As you can see above, in just one month we have received tremendous support for the Haiti earthquake relief efforts! We are truly blown away by your generosity and God's goodness in jumping in to help so quickly and meaningfully. All glory to God!
Evens has been back in Haiti for the last week overseeing the relief efforts. As a reminder, the earthquake struck southern Haiti, well-away from SAI ministry grounds. We at SAI are thankful that God spared our ministry area, but the distance makes it quite difficult to get supplies to where they're needed.
Evens and the SAI team were recently offered free space on a small airplane to bring more relief supplies and to connect people in the affected region with our ministry support. Our empowerment program provides microloans to businesspeople and families so they can start getting back to normal life. We were able to support over 90 different families with relief through this empowerment program! This is a direct example of how your generosity translates in the real, actual help for those in need. Thank you!
With Evens on-site again at SAI, we're moving forward quickly on two other ministry initiatives. First, the medical center building is nearing completion. Floors are done and painting is underway. We're not too far away from being able to open the medical center for the community.
Secondly, we've been building a new girls orphanage in partnership with Storehouse Church in Chicago. This will be known as the Storehouse Girls Academy when it's finished. This is a very important project as young girls are particularly vulnerable in Haiti.
There's still a lot more work to do. We're putting together a third round of relief supplies for earthquake victims. Would you continue to join us in supporting these efforts?
