April 2021 Ministry Update from Evens & Karina Paul

2020 was a difficult year with the pandemic effects in Haiti but also a wonderful year full of blessings, with new opportunities and partnerships. We achieved key milestones including adding a Micro-Loans program and a Goat Production program, both supported by our partnership with Covenant World Relief and Development in Haiti.
Before we look ahead to current programs, we want to update you on the things we've been working on over the last year(s). Despite the challenges, God has met all of our needs to move these projects toward implementation. We have God and you, our numerous partners, to thank for this. It truly gives us joy and gives glory to Him.

But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish. -Psalm 9:18, NIV

Medical Clinic

We have finished construction on the walls, doors, windows, roof, rough electric, and plumbing. With your continued donations and support and with a grant that we received from Northwest Covenant Church of Mount Prospect, we hope to finish the inside of the Medical Clinic by May to make it functional. Still to be done are plumbing, electrical fixtures, doors, windows, tile, paint, appliances, and furnishings. Once these are done, we expect to be ready to receive patients and full staff employees in our completed Medical Clinic by June 2021.

Storehouse Haiti Girls Academy

In partnership with Storehouse Church of Chicago, we in process to complete the foundation and walls for a new orphanage in the community of Vieud-Avictroy where our local church and the primary school are located. With Storehouse’s continued support and our wonderful partners, we plan to finish the orphanage construction and be ready for its inauguration and regular services to the orphans in our community by September 2021.

Energy Project Partnerships

In partnership with Valparaiso University, we are in the process of completing a portable inverter system and solar panel installation. This will upgrade our existing electrical system so we can power our entire campus where we have our home, the Medical Clinic, and our Organic farm Production. We'll be able to provide electrical power 24/7 through this system. All told, we'll have 108 Solar Panels and 78 inverter batteries! We are also working with the Colorado School of Mines and Engineering for Hope which will help us power the Primary campus and the church as well.

Goat Production Program

Through an awesome partnership with Covenant World Relief and Development, 70 farmers have received training on Animals Production. We've also been able to place 6 male breeders in 6 different communities where local farmers can have access to better goat breeders. This program is flourishing in our community and we can’t wait to see the full outcome of this!

Microloan Program

In response to the impact of Covid-19 Virus and in partnership with Covenant World Relief and Development, we started a microloan program which to date, has provided funds to twenty (20) families in need. Small business women have received funds and training to better manage their business. It has been a blessing to see the way that God has use this program to strengthen our Community.

Employment Opportunities

More than 280 people in the community of LaVictoire, Haiti continue to be employed directly by SAI, giving them the opportunity to support their families and the community. Some examples are teachers, secretaries, accounting, farmers, construction workers as well as as gardeners.

Education

More than 400 students who did not have previous access to education have been able to receive comprehensive education in pre-K through high school. Our schools have been functioning despite a short-term closing due to the pandemic. Students are passing their educational benchmarks and independent testing requirements and upon graduating, are equipped to move forward with college education to prepare for a career.

2021 SAI Ministry Needs

As we now turn our focus to 2021, we need your help to continue the mission God has called us to fulfill. As you pray and consider your 2021 plan, year-giving and monthly giving into 2021, please include SAI’s and our family’s needs in your prayers.

$60,000 for New Vehicle(s). Because we serve in a very difficult area, we are in need to raise around $60,000 to purchase a vehicle that will help us to keep up with the work that is happening in the ground of Haiti.

Medical Supplies & Medicine. We need continued funding to get medical equipment and medicine that we need so that we can open our medical Clinic facility to the community by July 2021.

Monthly financial support for schools. We need continued monthly supporters for general funding to allow us to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, maintain and expand our community initiatives and programs, pay the Haitian workers and teachers, and continue to fund the students’ education in our schools and provide meals during the school days.

Support for Paul Family. Also, our family is still in fundraising mode, please if you can, join us with your support on a monthly basis, quarterly or yearly.

Moving Where God is Taking Us

By working together, we will continue to spread the Gospel and create opportunities for our Haitian sisters and brothers in Christ who are in need. If you feel that God has placed it in your heart to support our work, whether that be through donating to fund our ongoing work, sponsoring a child in our schools, filling one of our open volunteer positions or going on a mission trip, we ask that you act at this time so SAI can continue to change the trajectory of the community of LaVictoire.
We want to once again thank each of you for your support and for your prayers. We wish each of you many blessings and Healthy year. Please continue in your prayers for all aspect of SAI’s Ministries, that we continue in God’s will and guidance for his glory.

God Bless, Evens & Karina Paul, Founders Sustainable Action International
