July 2021 Ministry Update

Dear our Mission Friends and Supporters,
As you are already aware, 2020 has been both a difficult year with the pandemic effects in Haiti and a wonderful year full of blessings, with new opportunities and partnerships. We’ve been blessed to add the Micro-Loans Program and the Goat Production program, which were made possible through our partnership with Covenant World Relief and Development in Haiti.
Because of the support of our friends and sponsors and through and the continuing guidance and blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ, we continue to serve God and His people faithfully in our ministry. Even in this era where the Haitian president was recently assassinated and created even more trauma for our people.

They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. Psalm 112:7 NLT

Evens July Visit to Haiti

I was able to be in Haiti for most of the month of July working with our leadership team on the ground. That’s when we learned about the death of our Haitian president. The whole country was sad when we (The Haitians) learned about this tragic event.
But what I learned through this death is how the Haitian people are united, how they love each other in the sense of real neighborhood or community and how we care deeply for each other despite our differences. Everyone that I encountered while I was in Haiti was saddened by what happened to the Haitian President.
From children to adults, rural people to Urban, everybody was saddened by this tragic death carried out by Columbian and Haitian-American mercenaries. Please keep Haiti in your prayers, as the whole country feels the pain of this incident and feels unsafe more than ever.

Medical Clinic

While I was in Haiti, I was able to work with our team on the Medical Clinic which is coming up very soon. Right now, we are close to 75% complete for the construction project of the Medical Clinic which will serve the people of Haiti and its surrounding areas.
We had the opportunity to receive all the doors and windows, some of the medical equipment that were shipped for our medical Clinic a couple months ago. All the flooring is done, and we installed electricity and plumbing. Right now the building is well secured. We give thanks and Glory to God who gives each one of us such opportunity to be a part of what He will accomplish in Haiti through this wonderful ministry.

Storehouse Haiti Girls Academy

In partnership with Storehouse Church of Chicago, we have been in the process of completing the foundation and the walls for an orphanage in the community of Vieud-Avictroy where our local church and the primary school are located. With Storehouse’s continued support and our wonderful partners, we plan to finish the orphanage construction and be ready for its inauguration and to then begin regular services to the orphans in our community by September 2021.

Goat Production Program

Our ministry - along with our awesome partners at Covenant World Relief and Development - has given animal production training to 70 farmers. We’ve been able to place 6 male breeders in 6 different communities where local farmers can have access to better goat breeders. More than 50% of the goats have already given birth to new goat babies which will be passed along as a gift to other families in desperate needs. This program is flourishing in our community, and we can’t wait to see the full outcome of this.

Microloan Program

In response to the impact of Covid-19 Virus and in partnership with Covenant World Relief and Development, we have started a microloan program which to date, has provided funds to fifty (50) families in need. Small business women have received funds and training to better manage their business.
We are closing in on the first year of the program and will evaluate it to see if we can add more women in the program since the demand for this program is high. It has been a blessing to see the way that God has used this program to strengthen our community.

Employment Opportunities

More than 280 people in the community of LA Victoire, Haiti continues to be employed directly by SAI, giving them the opportunity to support their families and the community. The tasks range from being a teacher, secretary, accounting, farmers, construction workers and as gardeners.

SAI Elementary & High Schools

More than 400 students who did not have previous access to education have been able to receive comprehensive education in pre-K through high school. Our schools have been functioning nonstop despite the pandemic. Students are passing their educational benchmarks and independent testing requirements and upon graduating, are equipped to move forward with college education to prepare for a career. This Week, we have 15 students in the third year of High School who are taking the government exam for the next level.

Immediate Projecct Needs

As we now turn our focus to 2021, we need your help to continue the mission God has called us to fulfill. As you pray and consider your 2021 plan, year-giving and monthly giving into 2021, please include SAI’s and our family’s needs:

High School Building: $15,000

By far our biggest need in the ministry is funding to build a new High School, which would also be used for a Community Center. Every year we're having to change the location of the school for one reason or another. And every year, we tend to lose students who can't find us at our new location.
In order build stability into our High School, we're looking for a partner to help us build a permanent location for our school. We'd also use this building for other purposes, such as hosting church events and administering our business programs.

If you're interesed in learning about how you can help us, please email Evens Paul at epaul@sustainableactionintl.org

New Vehicle Needed

We are desperately in need of a reliable vehicle to help us not only with our family while we are travelling in Haiti but also when we are transporting our mission friends who visit us on the ground. This will allow us to have reliable transportation for our mission teams and different ministries. Please keep us in your prayers as we are looking for ways that God will help us in this area of need.

Looking for Monthly Donors to Support Teaching Staff & Other SAI Needs

Many popular Christian children ministries allow you to “adopt” a child for a fixed monthly donation. You’ll get letters from kids so you can tangibly see who you 're helping.
We’ve tried this before at SAI and have found that this approach is very labor intensive for a ministry of our size. But the need to support our schools and these young children is every bit as needed.
The biggest financial need for our schools is paying our teachers. We’ve been able to meet these needs general ministry donations in the past but often have to delay paying them for a month or two until we have the resources to pay them.

We would hugely appreciate your support as a monthly donor! A monthly donation of $40/month goes a long way towards providing support for our teachers and students. While we don’t have the personnel to send direct correspondence to you from our students, we post about our school’s activities on our Facebook page. Can you become a monthly partner of SAI?

Also, our family is still in fundraising mode, please if you can, join us with your support in a monthly basis, Quarterly or Yearly.

Thank Your for Your Support!

By working together, we will continue to spread the gospel and create opportunities for our Haitian sisters and brothers in Christ who are in need. If you feel that God has placed it in your heart to support our work, whether that be through donating to fund our ongoing work, sponsoring a child in our schools, filling one of our open volunteer positions or going on a mission trip, we ask that you act at this time so SAI can continue strong the year,2021 and continue to change the trajectory of the community of LA Victoire.
God bless and keep you,

Evens and Karina Paul
