Ministry Update from Evens & Karina Paul
Dear mission friends who partner with Christ and our family in our ministry service in Haiti, it is an honor to have this awesome opportunity to share with you our gratitude to God first of all and to all of you that have joined our family in what God is doing in Haiti through our ministry services, particularly in the community of La Victoire, Haiti. As we often say, La Victoire is a beautiful community located in the last part of North side of Haiti and connect to North East Department and Center Department.
Despite all that you might hear happening in Haiti with the political crisis that just occur, we praise God that La Victoire’s people remain calm and all aspect of our ministry is still going strong. Our two schools are still functioning, the two churches that operate under our leadership are still going strong. The micro-loans program and the sustainable Agricultural program in the community are still making amazing impact in the whole community. We thank all of you who have joined us to make all of these happen for the people of La Victoire, Haiti. We are truly grateful for you and for your family. Thank you!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. -Psalm 9:1
Pandemic Update
As you already know we are in the midst of a pandemic, it hasn’t been easy for all of us, but we are grateful to all of you that prayed for our family and we are also thankful to our Lord Jesus who sustain us despite all kind of challenges that we faced while serving Jesus Christ in Haiti. Our family are doing well but we miss all of our friends and our family members on the ground.
We miss our two adopted children Mayra and Loulou and we are looking forward to reconnecting with them all as soon as it is safe for our family to travel back to Haiti. Evens was planning to take a trip to Haiti this week, February 8 but because of unrest situation that is happening in the capital of Haiti and with Covid-19, we thought it was not wise for him to travel at this moment. Fortunately, we have a wonderful leadership team leading the ministry with us who are doing fantastic job, and we communicate with them regularly through WhatsApp.
Project Updates
Despite all of the challenges over the last 12 months, we've accomplished a lot in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Medical Clinic
Building a medical clinic facility that will help alleviate the health crisis that affects the whole community of La Victoire due to lake of such care service in our region. We recently took possession of many needed medical supplies, including gurneys, bandages, office chairs, and baby scales. We'd like to thank our partner Mary Dowling at Sharing Resources Worldwide for the generous donations!
And we have a praise update for the Medical Clinic: We've received a $15,000 grant which helps keep us on-track to finish the clinic building project so we can open our doors this year!
Hope Farm
We've invested into our communities through the Sustainable Agricultural and Agro-Forestry Programs. In partnership with our Community Development program, we're empowering the people from communities we serve in organic farming training, Micro-loans program, animal production and husbandry, land and forestry conservation and livestock so that we can build together a better community for all God creation.
Community Center & High School
Building a Community center in the Lospinite community which is a locality of La Victoire, which we will use as our High school facility and also a place where people in this community will come to worship the Lord. It will be a community center which will attract different kind of gatherings as well.
Upcoming Ministry Goals
Finish the community center which is going to hold our High Schoolers and a new church plant in the community of Lospinite.
We are also in the process of building a dorm in our church back door where we will be able to receive young girls that are struggling in the community due lake of parenting presence. It is going to be a fostering care center for young girls in desperate for a safe place. A number of 10 youth could be host in this dorm at time.
Train 3,000 farmers in sustainable Agricultural practices including agro-Forestry, goat production, horticulture and animal husbandry. Through this, they can provide for their family members within the community where they are living and also pass along in their farming communities the knowledge they receive during the program.
Educate the nearly 300 children and youths that have God has placed under our care services through our both schools: Our High school and the Primary section. We truly believe that together we can participate in bringing Christ’s hope and encouragement, Christ healing among the people of La Victoire, Haiti.
